Just a theory. Any way you slice it, I love Godard. It would be great to see him make a film a year, whether it be chaotic or sublime. Thanks for the blog.

Though I read about JLG’s fax to the festival, I hadn’t heard the detail about the Ozu photo. That certainly adds to the mystery, and makes me think the reference to “problèmes de type Grec” has less to do with the current crisis than I initially imagined.

You advice to critics is spot on, and you should text those final three sentences to everybody covering Cannes. Lord knows a good percentage of them need it! (Well, of the US contingency, at least.)

I disagree with you, however, about KING LEAR, one of his most misunderstood films. Plus, it’s got Molly Ringwald in it! ‘Nuff said!
